Humans Hilary

Humans are unfathomable. I’m one and I don’t even know myself very well.

You may know I live a large majority of the year in Spain, and last week I went to the monthly gardening talk. After the talk I was sat at the back, quietly drinking my coffee when a young lady came and sat next to me. She had a beautiful smile and started up a conversation, initially about gardens.

She seemed very nice and our conversation drifted to hobbies. Mine is writing, as some of you may know. Now, here’s where I don’t understand myself …by the end of our conversation I had offered to run a course to help and encourage others start on the exciting path of putting pen to paper, whether that is for pleasure, recording events for the grandchildren, or trying to writing a novel.

What would the famous father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, make of this? I had no idea when I started to talk to this lady that I would end up offering to run a course. Possibly, buried deep within must be a longing to recreate a past world — I was a teacher once upon a time, but who knows what was going on in my brain?

Not me!

Anyway, there you go. I’m about to go back down the road of lesson plans, objectives and outcomes, but I really am looking forward to it because it’s the topic I love.

Hopefully I’ll still find time to write ‘Beautiful Lies’ (book three) though, which has only just begun.
